Role specification
About the role
FireFly GX is recruiting two Senior Mechanical Engineers on behalf of a long-established MEP and building systems consultancy working on landmark projects across healthcare, mission critical, science and technology, and commercial sectors. The client is flexible across four offices — Chicago, Sacramento, San Diego and San Francisco — so this is worth a conversation wherever you are among them. You'll design major healthcare projects across inpatient and outpatient settings, at a level where you're providing technical leadership rather than working to someone else's drawings.
What you'll do
- Represent the practice in dealings with clients, contractors, architects and the wider project team
- Design large mechanical projects and prepare the supporting reports and specifications
- Develop sustainable mechanical solutions, from concept through to detailed drawings
- Oversee drawing production against client requirements and standards
- Establish design standards, specifications and project criteria
- Produce due diligence reports, gap analyses and feasibility studies
- Prepare proposals and administer project contracts, including additional service agreements
- Set project budgets and schedules, and participate in QA/QC of the team's completed work
- Manage and review staff resource allocation
Key skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 8 years' experience within a consulting firm
- 3+ years in a supervisory or project management capacity
- Current PE registration as a Mechanical Engineer — required, not in progress
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
- Strong ability to coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, electrical and telecom, including constructability and cost
- A stable, consistent employment track record
Also useful
- LEED AP accreditation — highly preferred
- Healthcare design experience across inpatient and outpatient facilities
- Capability across mission critical, life science and R&D building types
- Science and technology or project management background
What's on offer
- Medical, dental, vision, life insurance and supplemental benefit plans
- 401(k) with a generous employer match
- Training, professional development courses and development incentive bonuses
- Competitive paid time off, plus a transit or parking stipend
- Monday to Thursday in the office, Fridays worked from home
- A national team of over 100 engineers to draw expertise from
