About the role

FireFly GX is recruiting three Supervising Electrical Engineers on behalf of a long-established MEP and building systems consultancy working on landmark projects across healthcare, mission critical, science and technology, and commercial sectors, with confirmed seats in Chicago, Los Angeles and San Diego. This is an Engineer of Record appointment — you'll hold technical responsibility on dedicated projects while leading and developing the engineers around you. Healthcare design experience is a firm requirement here, not a preference.

What you'll do

  • Act as Engineer of Record on dedicated projects
  • Supervise and lead coordination meetings across the project team
  • Lead and supervise staff as they carry out design and project engineering work
  • Coordinate and assign projects across the engineering team
  • Establish design standards, specifications and project criteria
  • Manage construction administration — field reports, RFI responses, bulletins and addenda
  • Prepare proposals and administer client contracts, including additional service agreements
  • Participate in budgeting, scheduling and staff management
  • Work with accounting on monthly invoicing and monitor project receivables
  • Carry out periodic staff evaluations and support technical training and mentoring

Key skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 12+ years' experience within a consulting firm in the MEP engineering industry
  • 3 years' supervisory experience
  • Healthcare design experience — required
  • Current PE licensure — required
  • Hands-on design capability with CAD and Revit; this remains a strongly technical role

Also useful

  • Critical facilities, commercial or aviation project history
  • Mission critical or science and technology experience
  • Project management experience

What's on offer

  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance and supplemental benefit plans
  • 401(k) with a generous employer match
  • Training, professional development courses and development incentive bonuses
  • Competitive paid time off, plus a transit or parking stipend
  • Monday to Thursday in the office, Fridays worked from home
  • A national team of over 100 engineers to draw expertise from
