About the role

FireFly GX is recruiting a Senior / Supervising Engineer I in Tampa on behalf of a long-established MEP and building systems consultancy working on landmark projects across healthcare, mission critical, science and technology, and commercial sectors. The team is growing and wants someone with real design depth who also wants to develop the younger engineers coming through. Worth noting for anyone considering a move to Florida — the client is open on discipline, so both mechanical and electrical engineers are in scope.

What you'll do

  • Represent the practice with clients, contractors, architects and project teams
  • Design large projects and prepare the supporting reports and specifications
  • Provide a high level of technical leadership within the office
  • Develop sustainable solutions, producing concepts through to detailed drawings
  • Oversee drawing production against client requirements and standards
  • Establish design standards, specifications and project criteria
  • Produce due diligence reports, gap analyses and feasibility studies
  • Prepare proposals and administer contracts, including additional service agreements
  • Set project budgets and schedules, and take part in QA/QC of the team's work
  • Manage and develop the office's junior engineers

Key skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 8 to 12+ years' experience within a consulting firm
  • Current EIT and/or PE registration; PE required for the supervising grade
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
  • Strong ability to coordinate building systems with architectural, structural and telecom, including constructability and cost
  • A genuine appetite for managing and developing junior engineers

Also useful

  • LEED AP accreditation — highly preferred
  • Capability across commercial, mixed-use, mission critical, life science and R&D buildings
  • Relocation candidates are welcomed for this one

What's on offer

  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance and supplemental benefit plans
  • 401(k) with a generous employer match
  • Training, professional development courses and development incentive bonuses
  • Competitive paid time off, plus a transit or parking stipend
  • Monday to Thursday in the office, Fridays worked from home
  • A national team of over 100 engineers to draw expertise from
